Is your email starting to get lots of unsolicited mail? Here’s an idea – save your personal email for friends only. Get one or more email aliases to use when you register for things on-line. Maybe there’s a drawing for something cool and free, maybe you want to get a freebie from a blogger, but you have to give up your email. Whatever the reason, why not set up a disposable (alias) email with your Windows Live account. Keep it for awhile and then when and if it starts to get spammy looking, then simply delete it and start up a new one.
You can add up to five aliases per year to your Hotmail account. This will make it a lot easier to organize different types of email and personas in one Hotmail inbox without having to give out your primary email address if you don’t want to.
To start, log into your web Live or Hotmail account. You’ll see a gear next to your inbox—click on it to show the pop-out and select ‘Create a Hotmail alias’
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Waiting while the account is set up. You’ll be notified when it’s ready for you. Notice that you can set up a new folder to have this mail go in (this is best, in my opinion).
You’re ready to go!
